The challenge with remodeling the second story of this Tudor-style home in Seattle was staying within the lines of the elements the homeowners wanted to preserve -- the beautiful brick facade; the stairs to the second story; the wood-burning fireplace -- while transforming two small existing bedrooms and unfinished attic space into a bright and spacious master suite, a kids' bathroom, and two light-filled children's rooms. From the outside, the division between the ridgeline of the original roof and that of the new master bath dormer is invisible, while from the inside, clean, crisp lines, custom cabinetry, and contemporary finishes complement the Tudor pitched ceilings of the refigured rooms in a thoroughly modern way.
