When the homeowners bought this property, the house -- a mid-century modern design -- was falling apart. NRC Homes designed a fulll remodel to take advantage of the expansive views to the west and to bring the house into the mid-21st-century. By reconfiguring the roof, we were able to give the homeowners a soaring vaulted ceiling on the upper floor, while staying within the bounds of the neighborhood height restrictions. A new covered deck and a new patio allow the homeowners to open the folding glass doors on both the upper and lower levels and live outside as much as inside during the warm summer months. Thanks to Seattle's DADU and AADU ordinances, we were also able to convert the detached garage on the property into a backyard cottage for the homeowners' parents.
